Sorry or przepraszam

Talking about bias… I did not expect Warsaw to be like this. When I think about eastern Europe negative words come to my mind; grey, old, broken-down, poor, even a bit outdated and grumpy, unfriendly people. But Warsaw made me realise this was a completely wrong prejudgement. We did an open bus tour and enjoyed the city. Positively surprised about the modern buildings, nice shopping area, lots of trees and flowers and very wide, pedestrian-friendly streets.

Yesterday, we chose to have dinner in a traditionally Polish restaurant. And even though it is not the so called fine dining, I liked the Polish cuisine; the sour flavors and the dumplings were great. Quite heavy, but a good and nutritious meal. And the service was so friendly. Today they talked about the Polish culture in the bus. The people are very hospitable, but are not so used to smiling and may come across as being unfriendly.

Maybe it is the right time to say ‘sorry’ to Warsaw and the Polish people; ‘przepraszam’ for my stupid prejudgements…
