Be a winner and be slimmer

Today there was this nice activity in the staff restaurant; “Would you like to be a winner and be slimmer?” Some leaflets about healthy food, how to loose weight and some fruit for free. I liked it and made a photo. Unfortunately it seemed nobody even bothered looking at this nice stand and the Sodexo girl looked a little bit lost. Made me wonder, isn’t this a big issue in the UK, losing weight?

When eating my healthy salad and not so healthy sandwich, I looked around what everybody was eating. A popular thing is the so called jacket potato, a big baked potato (skin on) filled with all kinds of condiments, such as cheese or baked beans. Also seen on the plates were these big stakehouse fries, topped with grated cheese or some kind of gravy. No vegetables. Also very popular are the small bags of crisps, the ones we give to our children. And of course the English also like their pastry, cakes and cookies, with a nice cup of tea with milk.

Interesting English eating habits and maybe some not so appropiate for a slimmer size?
